L. Basile is a graduate writing candidate at The New School in New York City (graduation, May 2012). She studied English Language and Literature at Pace University as an undergraduate, with a minor in Applied Psychology and Human Relations. She has received six writing awards from Pace University’s Annual Writing Contest, including 1st place in poetry and fiction — along with awards in journalism. She currently works in New York for an international social service agency.

Literary Experience

She is the author of two forthcoming books, A Decent Voodoo, (Cervená Barva Press) and Triste (Dancing Girl Press), and Andalucia (Brothel Books, 2011). Her recent work has been published in many literary magazines, including PANK, Pear Noir!, Moon Milk Review, >kill author and Right Hand Pointing. See more here. She is the editor of Patasola Press and a poetry reader for Weave Magazine. She is a performing member of The Poetry Brothel, where she specializes in poetic performance.

Journalism Experience

She has interned at and written for various publications, including Billboard Magazine, CosmoGirl! Magazine, Billboard's Jaded Insider, UWire/Billboard's College Town Tour Guide, Pace Magazine, inReads, Knocks From The Underground and The Westfield Leader. She was Editor-in-Chief of Pace University's weekly newspaper, The Pace Press and was Associate Editor for Aphros, Pace's literary journal.
